Moved

I am finally all moved in to the new apartment. Besides the random trip to walmart to pick up some kitchen appliances here and there, everything is here.

The job is about the same as in columbus. The big differences are rush times, twice as much walking, and less prep. Liz’s new job seems like a pain as a department specialist. I could never scan every single item in the department. I would probably be passed out in the aisle from boredom. (Liz says that she probably walks more but I dont think so.)

Right now I am working on paying off the credit card from the expenses I had to pay for when moving. Once that is done I am planning on purchasing a new TV. My current TV’s speakers are about to go.

Childhood at its Best?

Today is the start of “The Days of Arcade.” The first title out is a game I, personally, have been waiting for since I heard about it. It is Hasbro’s Family Game Night.

This game is like my childhood in a box, kinda. In elementery school days if there was a blizzard or if it was raining then recess was inside the library. Basically they had a ton of board/card games to play. Hasbro has brought back some good memories with this bundle.

Right now it has four out of the seven games ready for download. This includes Battleship, Yahtzee, Connect 4, and Scrabble. The others that are not ready for download are Sorry!, Sorry! Sliders, and Boggle.

EA did a great job at making a board game easy to play on a console. I tried all the demos for it and can say that they were not that bad. They give you a quick rundown of the controls and a little gameplay. After about five minutes the demo is up. To upgrade a game it is 800 MS points ($10) each.

In the end I bought Battleship. While the game did get old somewhat fast I believe that this is a great pick up and play type of game. In the future I plan on expanding the games to the full version but for now I’ll sail the seven seas on Live.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate Demo

My initial thought was, “Why am I putting 911MB of crap on my hdd?” Comic books made into movies made into video games have just never really caught my attention before. However, I really only wanted to try out the bullet curving game play.

This morning I loaded the demo up to find some odd dev screens. After that going into the menu I could only imagine how comic book like the whole game would be. I was pleasantly surprised to find the menu had a smokey look with simple to find options.

After finishing the three tutorials I hoped into the mission. You find yourself in the cargo hold of an airplane trying to make it to the parachute and emergency hatch in the cockpit. Making it difficult are men wanting you dead. This is where the game actually gets good.

While shooting with the reticle on the man’s head I often missed. To me this is a neutral thing, neither good or bad. The level moved around a lot and in real life it may have missed just like I did. Who knows maybe this is a more advanced physics engine that simulates life to real.

The cover system is just like a ballet. It is thee most elegant system I have ever seen. When moving the left stick I actually got to the cover I wanted. I could have stayed in cover all day and enjoyed myself without killing anyone.

The bullet curving is one of three special abilities I got to use. To curve the bullet you needed adrenaline which is acquired by killing one person (you have two slots for adrenaline). Holding down the right bumper activates the ability. You are then locked onto a target (not sure if you can change targets while in this mode) who is red. Moving the left stick moves the trajectory a full 360 degrees in order to find the kill. The target goes red to white when the bullet has a clear path. Once the curve is set up you just release the RB to shoot. If your shot didn’t work then you lose your filled adrenaline slot. If your shot did make a kill then it keeps the one slot filled.

Another great ability is slowing down in between cover to shoot multiple targets. This is acquired by filling two slots of adrenaline, two kills in a row achieves this. When going from cover to cover you will have the option to use this. My advice would be to aim for the chest and unload. In this level reticle moved around a lot so aiming at the chest saved on time and bullets.

The other ability was flanking ability. When in cover you blind fire you activate this. A white mist pops up around the edges of the screen. You now can move from cover to cover very quickly. If done right you have the ability to flank your enemy without them noticing you. In the end this gives you the easy kill and the easy adrenaline.

My overall thoughts on the game so far were pleasing. I believe I would rent and even go as far as buying it. I see myself enjoying the single player campaign a lot. The multiplayer side of it has great potential but I wont hold my breath.

Video Game Update

Recently I have been thinking of how much gaming I need to do in order for myself to feel “caught up.” Just last night I finished the original campaign to The Maw. Right after finishing the game I downloaded the two DLC levels for it. Downloading that made me remember that I still need to play Fable 2’s Knothole Island, Fallout 3 and Fallout 3’s Operation: Anchorage, GTA 4’s Lost and the Damned, and a slew of other games with recent updates.

So I am sitting here wondering why am I not gaming??!?!! I need to pick up that controller!

Gluten Free

Recently I went to a chiropractic to have a nutritional exam. The appointment was made to find any food allergens that triggered my crohn’s disease.

As with any test regarding health I prefer a more scientific method. I am not sure holding a bag of wheat makes me weak a real way at diagnosing me.

Anyway I will try out his recommendations and try a gluten free diet.

So far I have learned quite a bit regarding what gluten is and where you can find it. While it may have nothing to do with my crohn’s I know deep down I should continue this diet for total health reasons.
