A.D.D.C.D.
Now and then I want to make a new and unique CD for work. Going through every album I have takes time. Right now I have a little over 31GB of music with everything from Frank Sinatra to Nine Inch Nails. So how do I make a playlist from all this music I love? I call it A.D.D.C.D..
My idea is for an executable that picks at random and creates a playlist for you. The settings can be edited to your liking such as:
- Add different file formats… MP3, WMA, AAC, etc.
- Only add songs from a certain genre or genres.
- Add only songs from a set of folders.
- Set the time and physical space limits… CD, DVD, or anything.
- Only have ___ song/s per artist.
After selecting what you would like A.D.D.C.D. to pick from It will now go out and create a playlist. It would randomly select five songs to pick one from. A.D.D.C.D. would copy and paste the selection and add it to a new folder named after your playlist. The selected file is also striped of its data and renamed a number in which it was added. This would happen over and over until a limit has been reached.
Having it copy and paste songs into a new folder would make in universal. All you would then have to do is input files into your favorite burning program. Now you have a unique CD where you have to listen to find out who A.D.D.C.D. picked.
Three Ante Meridien
The news says there should be snow today. Snow on my day off makes complete sense. In preparation of snow I picked up two bags of truck sand. Truck sand? I guess I am glad to have the right sand for the specific purpose.
I Want This?
The holiday season is coming up very very soon. Heck even six aisles of Walmart is dedicated to Christmas already. With that in mind I knew mom would be asking for a Christmas list. Right now my list is very diversified. So much that I know for a fact I will be getting clothes for sure.
One thing on the list that is a big item in my eye yet small. It is the ASUS Eee Box. It is a tiny little box with notebook parts in it. A small but hefty 80gb HDD that could easily be used as for network storage. Built in wireless that is compatible with b, g, and n which is somewhat future proof. I have massive love for the gigabit LAN connection. Plus the other connections that a notebook would have like USB, DVI, and a card reader.
Right now between Amazon.com and Newegg.com they are running at $300 for the 80gb, 1GB DDR2, and XP Home. Seems like a sweet deal for a little pc would save over 90% in electricity than running my current rig. But still… $300 for a once-a-week pc?
I want this PC for running Boinc and Boinc only. It would be dedicated to running it 24/7. Right now when I leave the house and my rig is running, I let it keep running. I let it run for hours with Boinc running my CPU at 100%. Does wasting primo electricity justify the hope of helping mankind in distributed applications? In my eyes no. That is why I believe the Eee Box would be a great addition to my little network.
Rock Band Tour ‘08
Liz and I got back from Lincoln where we went to the Rock Band Live Tour. There were two little Rock Band stages set up in the hallway. I am sure if the venue was more modern that MTV could have really made the experience pop right out.
Overall the concert was great. We stood down in the crowd for the entire time we were there. My feet and legs ached after so much. If it wasn’t for all the pushing I don’t know how much standing-in-one-spot I could take.
The bands that played were The Cab, Plain White T’s, and Dashboard Confessional. Panic at the Disco also played so once the first three bands were done we headed over to a friends house instead of sticking around. It seemed a lot of people had a similar idea.
Lots Of Shtuff
Wow. The past few days have been non-stop. I am so behind on my gaming that I have no clue what is even coming out. Without knowing what games come out I am actually kinda lost as I have nothing to look forward too.
On to business. Liz and I recently bought a washer and dryer for $300. We are freaking excited about not having to drive across town to use the parent’s hookups. Then you sit there for a few hours wondering why the towels will not get dry any faster. So no all we have to do is walk 30 feet to wash our clothes. Epic success in my mind.
Recently I have started using Mint.com’s financial services. I really love the web 2.0 feel of the site. It actually makes me want to start saving money more wisely. Right now I am only able to add my Emigrant, ING, and USAA info. My main bank that my checking, auto loan, and investments are at does not support mint.com. It is sad that their main branch bank is supported yet a simple sister bank is not. I have already sent an email to my bank and mint.com. I expect a weekly email rant is going to be happening.
Today Liz and I are heading over to the Rock Band concert tour. The Cab, Plain White T’s, Panic at the Disco, and Dashboard Confessional are playing. Unfortunately I can’t fast forward through Panic at the Disco. I’ve seen them perform on MTV before. After a minute of waiting for them to sound good I just changed the channel and gave up hope.
Anyway today is going to be very busy. I want to keep myself occupied today but its kinda hard on my day off. Now I feel forced to go do stuff. It was bound to happen.
