A Gamer Bachelor Party

December 5, 2008 · Posted in idea, life, video game · Comment

When you hear the words bachelor party you think of guys being guys out at the strip clubs getting drunk. Particularly I am not a big fan of that idea. When I am with the guys all I want to do is get online and play some intense multiplayer. That is why I came up with this idea for my bachelor party.

First we start off with emailing Xbox and the Frag Dolls. We tell them the idea of a bachelor party open to everyone. Ask if they could just help supply Xbox 360s that in turn could be donated to Child’s Play Charity. All the profits would also go to the Child’s Play Charity too. I think having the Frag Dolls there would help the bachelor theme. Guys trying to beat them and its all for charity.

Next we find a place that could hold quite a bit of people. Get the word out in plenty of time. In the end everyone has a good time, Child’s Play gets a great donation, and in the end my fiance does not yell at me for touching.

Update November Twelfth

Twelfth? Just like it sounds, it looks wrong.

I am writing after coming out of my video game coma. There are a ton of new hits that need to be played. In between sessions* I have been keeping busy around the new apartment and thinking up new ideas. While this post will be short; I am going to hopefully make a post on each of the following topics.

  1. Video games!!!! Plus my recent mistrust in Gamestop
  2. The new washer and dryer
  3. Entertainment stand and audio piers. Probably a small post.
  4. An idea about how pirating movies may be over. Dare I even make that post?

* When I can find the time to play with everyone wanting the tv.

Rock Band Tour ‘08

Liz and I got back from Lincoln where we went to the Rock Band Live Tour. There were two little Rock Band stages set up in the hallway. I am sure if the venue was more modern that MTV could have really made the experience pop right out.

Overall the concert was great. We stood down in the crowd for the entire time we were there. My feet and legs ached after so much. If it wasn’t for all the pushing I don’t know how much standing-in-one-spot I could take.

The bands that played were The Cab, Plain White T’s, and Dashboard Confessional. Panic at the Disco also played so once the first three bands were done we headed over to a friends house instead of sticking around. It seemed a lot of people had a similar idea.

Lots Of Shtuff

Wow. The past few days have been non-stop. I am so behind on my gaming that I have no clue what is even coming out. Without knowing what games come out I am actually kinda lost as I have nothing to look forward too.

On to business. Liz and I recently bought a washer and dryer for $300. We are freaking excited about not having to drive across town to use the parent’s hookups. Then you sit there for a few hours wondering why the towels will not get dry any faster. So no all we have to do is walk 30 feet to wash our clothes. Epic success in my mind.

Recently I have started using Mint.com’s financial services. I really love the web 2.0 feel of the site. It actually makes me want to start saving money more wisely. Right now I am only able to add my Emigrant, ING, and USAA info. My main bank that my checking, auto loan, and investments are at does not support mint.com. It is sad that their main branch bank is supported yet a simple sister bank is not. I have already sent an email to my bank and mint.com. I expect a weekly email rant is going to be happening.

Today Liz and I are heading over to the Rock Band concert tour. The Cab, Plain White T’s, Panic at the Disco, and Dashboard Confessional are playing. Unfortunately I can’t fast forward through Panic at the Disco. I’ve seen them perform on MTV before. After a minute of waiting for them to sound good I just changed the channel and gave up hope.

Anyway today is going to be very busy. I want to keep myself occupied today but its kinda hard on my day off. Now I feel forced to go do stuff. It was bound to happen.

Time VS Life

Finally found some time to make a post. Not really sure if “found time” was right since I always seem to have time to spare. Lately its just been lounging here and lounging there. It is kind of hard to find the rhythm I had before the Florida trip. Back here in Nebraska it seems like there is something missing. Oh well.

The new apartment is looking more and more like a home than a college kids dorm room. My dad and I squeezed a futon and loveseat up the narrow hallway. A couple days later we added a new table and chairs. The only thing missing from the living room would be a entertainment center.

A couple days ago I was talking with a friend about washer and dryers. Whether it was a better idea to rent a set from the apartments or to go out and buy a new set on a monthly payment plan. She knew a friend that had a few sets. I called her up and she had a set that was only three years old that was used about half the time. She priced them at $300 and the choices were clear. I could continue washing clothes at the parents house or I could walk to the next room to wash my clothes. You better believe I took the latter choice.

Things are coming along nicely for the apartment, fall TV season is here, the NHL should be starting up soon, and time to start saving up for Christmas presents. Yup, busy busy and I am here watching the latest Tekzilla. You just got to love life.
